‘Michael Pos DIRECT from Sounds of Nashville’ Is a Bold, Groovy Comeback Done Right
Music ReviewsMichael Pos reemerges, with the release of the three-track EP, ‘Michael Pos DIRECT from Sounds of Nashville feat. Blue House Band’. It is like a note to self from an artist who didn’t leave the music, but instead put on some life between now and then. The first song, “Move My Ship”, oozes soul and sounds fueled by the vigor of a live show from the opening notes. One can almost taste the grit and smoothness of this track that emits pride and inner calling with every word that flows like notes from an accordion after a storm. The Blue House Band, provides the masterpiece with a back bone of seamless percussion and playful guitar riffs to ensure the groove does not get lost in translation of the song.

The second offering is the alluring instrumental, “Puertecitos”, that flips the script quite shockingly. It is smooth, sun drenched and more spacious than the song preceding it. There is a certain patience and laid-back riffs that allow your mind to wander to the calm coast of the ocean, although a break in tempo and genre seem unexpected, this three minute blues-fusion masterpiece makes the decision to not utilize lyrics for a tune powerfully clever. It’s almost as if Pos himself is just sitting beside you at your local quaint town coffee shop just vibing out in silence and all of a sudden, music starts to create that elongated moment of bliss.
Last but not least, “Love to Dance” closes the EP on a light note of happy-go-lucky bliss. This final track of ‘Direct from Sounds of Nashville’ is a throwback lover’s delight of a classic soul-funk feeling that sets the tone for a groovy atmosphere and just feels like a more simple day without pressure. Pos embraces that and simply allows the beat to lead the way as he is backed by a timeless sound that’s upbeat and light but executed well nonetheless.
