No Tricks, Just Soul: Inside ‘Saturday Sessions’
Music ReviewsThe All’s Eye isn’t playing around. The two-track EP ‘Saturday Sessions’ delivers powerful raw energy that remains with listeners despite its brief length. This release stands out because it captures live performances from Barbershop Studios and is distributed by Music Factory Records rather than being a standard polished studio release. The authentic analog performance creates deeply human music with every note carrying the purity of its source. Ari Joshua on guitar along with Ben Atkind on drums and Kris Yunker on keys create an impressive musical bond. From the first seconds of “Gramama”, listeners experience the emotional tribute Ari wrote for his late grandmother. The track presents a fusion of gospel and blues elements while maintaining a persisting train rhythm that pushes the emotional current through the song. It’s warm, spiritual, and full of soul. Ari’s guitar delivers heartfelt melodies while Kris’s organ enhances the depth and texture of the sound.

Ben anchors the beat on drums while maintaining the groove’s rhythm and providing the song with its essential pulse. The words carry significant emotional depth as they explore memories and relationships. The song delivers a personal message yet resonates with listeners as if recounting their narrative. The transition begins with “Say What You Wanna Say”, which alters the musical landscape. Although this track originated during a boogaloo session, it undergoes a complete transformation in this version. The All’s Eye raises the intensity through psychedelic riffs combined with deep jazz improvisation. The track delivers an intense groove that demands your full attention. The band demonstrates through their actions what their music preaches about speaking your truth. Ari’s guitar work is wild but purposeful. Ben delivers a precision drumming experience that surprises you at every turn while Kris surrounds you with his swirling keyboard patterns.
The band recorded both songs in a single live performance and its energy transfers directly to the listener. With no fancy edits and no studio tricks. The music showcases raw musical talent captured as it happens. The Emmy-winning producer Matt Rifino was responsible for the production work and oversaw both mixing and mastering. He has mastered the art of creating a vibrant atmosphere during live sessions. Multi-camera setups provide strong visual support to bring the performance to life. The multi-cam was tracked for the session and should be released as part of a series later this year, but it has not been released yet. A studio version of “Say What You Wanna Say” is due out from The All’s Eye on May 9th on all platforms.
